A motion supporting the BDS (the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement who accuses Israel of war crimes failed to pass at the University of Bath’s Student Union.
The motion accusing Israel of committing “war crimes and crimes against humanity,” states: “Israel is only able to maintain its system of apartheid and settler colonialism over the Palestinian people because of the support that it receives from world governments and corporations.”
Israel advocates active on campus worked together with students of other societies with common interests such as the Conservative Society, the Christian Union and the Indian Society to push against the vote. The final results were: 343 votes against, 249 votes for, with over 200 students abstaining.
